Welcome to Ms. Candido’s Grade 4 Class!
Dear Parents & Families,
This is going to be such a great school year, and I am excited to get started. Our class has 24 students (14 girls & 10 boys), and it looks like a wonderful group of kids!
As a teacher, I always welcome involvement from parents. I would like to work together as a team to ensure the success of your child’s learning. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any feedback, questions or concerns, and please let me know if there is anything I should know about your child’s safety, learning style, or any other needs. I look forward to meeting & getting to know each family this year.
Grade 4 is the 1st year of intermediate elementary school, meaning big changes for students (and parents) to adapt to, including letter grades and greater student responsibilities. For this reason, it is a good idea to keep in touch & understand how your child is adjusting to the expectations of the 4th grade. To help you, you can watch our Weebly class site (mscandido.weebly.com) and keep track on what’s happening in the classroom and watch our homework blog on your child’s daily homework. I hope this will keep you informed of where your child is succeeding, and also where you could help them to improve. I always welcome communication via personal visits, student agenda communication, and telephone calls.
Also attached to this letter is my Term One Overview and Plan, a detailed outline of all the fun and interesting topics we will be exploring this term. This is a flexible plan, but you’ll find it gives you a general idea of what we’ll be doing before Winter Break. I have also included our Classroom Procedures handout which I will go over in detail with students.
Thank you for your support!
Mrs.Candido’s Class Letter
Hello Parents!
I am pleased to be joining you at Iqra Islamic School this year. I hope you had an excellent summer and that you are rested and ready to start and fun and productive school year. As your teacher, I want you to always remember that the tone of the classroom depends on us working together as a team. I expect you to participate in class and follow the school and classroom rules. I also want learning to be enjoyable for you, so please tell me if there is anything that will help your learning go better. Please remember that you can come to me if you need help or if you have any suggestions for making the classroom better for you.
First, I would like to tell you a little about myself. I am a B.C. College of Teacher’s certified Canadian school teacher with a degree in English and a teaching degree from Simon Fraser University. I also completed my Post Baccalaureate Program in Special Education from Simon Fraser University in 2011. I have been taught grade two at Iqra for three years and I have taught grade 4 for the last two years. I’m sure my time at Iqra Islamic School will provide me with many more opportunities to learn and grow both personally and professionally. I look forward to working with you throughout the school year.
I became a teacher because of my strong desire to be a positive influence in the lives of young people. My main goal as an educator is to provide a safe, stable learning community in which all students may develop their unique abilities, and where all students will experience success and joy in learning. Ultimately, I aspire to foster a love of learning that will last a lifetime. As a teacher, I believe that it is my job to create a warm, inviting, and stimulating classroom community that allows all students to be successful in their education while feeling safe and valued as individuals.
In addition, I believe that it is very important for parents and teachers to work together to create common goals for the children. Home and school are two very important parts of a child’s life, and the more these parts can work together, the more likely the student is to be a successful learner.
If there is anything I can do to help your child be more happy or successful in school, please do not hesitate to call me.
My Teaching Philosophy
As a class we have discussed these rules and how your child can behave in ways that demonstrate care for our school and classroom communities.
Please help me to reinforce these rules with your child.
Concentrate on learning
